Live well…on purpose.
Truth. Intention. Power.
Embracing the beauty of vulnerability!
Find your balance…
Between the hustle and bustle of alarm clocks, bumper to bumper traffic, seemingly impossible day to day work tasks, constant cell phone notifications, financial obligations, and family expectations, we often never seem to take just one spare moment to STOP…for ourselves - just to breathe, collect our thoughts, and become more intimately aware of our own personal needs. It’s my belief that there are six essential principles that govern the balance of our lives - physical fitness, dietary discipline, emotional health, spiritual wellness, self-awareness, and prioritized passion. Now, I know, I know, you’re probably thinking, “I’d have to be perfect to get all of that right!” Well, being right or perfect all the time is not only impossible…but it’s not the point, either. The point is to continue the conversation and take life by the reins each and every day. It is my hope that this blog will motivate, encourage, educate, provoke thought, and inspire! So, welcome to my site! I invite you to come along this journey with me to find balance and peace, and accomplish your dreams.
Much love…Enjoy!
The Essentials
Physical Fitness
I am one who believes, whether we realize it or not, all things work in concert. That is, we often manifest in our outward behaviors what occurs on the inside. No amount of exercise or diet alone will maintain the physical fitness we desire if there is no internal adjustment involved. When we really begin to heal those inner tender places, our behaviors change, and a renewed mindset manifests outwardly. Emerging in this renewed state, we have now positioned ourselves to fine tune the vessel. No matter where you are on this particular journey, approach yourself with kindness and compassion. You showed up…and that’s all that matters. Now, keep doing it.
Dietary Discipline
If you’re anything like me, you absolutely love food! Being from the South, with all of its delectable, home-cooked, Southern-fried fixins, making the right dietary decisions can be nearly impossible at times. Now, don’t get it twisted… I’m not here to spoil the fun! I love it as much as you do, but let’s consider dialing the gravy back a bit. Besides, part of getting what we desire out of these bodies requires us to be mindful of what we put in them. Fair?? So what does this mean to me? Cut out my Southern cuisines cold turkey? Never. I generally practice eating what God made, not the laboratory experiments man has a tendency to come up with. On that note…
Emotional Health
It can be pretty easy to hold on to stuff. I’m not talking about the stuffed animals you may be hoarding…nope, not that at all. Instead I’m referring to past arguments, disagreements, pain, hurt, and trauma we’ve all experienced over the years. When it becomes necessary to throw all the old junk out (and believe me, it will), the closet has to be cleaned out. Lay it all out, organize it, and determine what to do with it all. Amidst the chaos and grief, I guarantee there are treasures you didn’t know were there, just waiting to be found. I hope that as I share some of my personal experiences, you may be inspired to clean out some hard to reach areas, if needed...but no pressure!
Spiritual Wellness
Every day holds brand new blessings of grace and mercy to accompany us on our journeys. Knowing I serve a God that adores me despite my mistakes, shortcomings, and failures, takes away any possible excuse I could create to justify not embracing the beauty of life. That includes everything that comes along with it…the good, the bad, and the ugly. There is something to be learned from all experiences, if we choose to see it that way.
Self-Awareness
We all encounter the infamous ego on a daily basis. The ego prevents us from forgiving and asking for forgiveness. It stops us from expressing our true feelings or doing the right things if we feel it will weaken our persona. Ultimately, the ego protects us from the threat of vulnerability. But I argue that there is beauty in that place. When you’re able to look that image in the mirror square in the eyes and check him/her…that’s power.
Prioritized Passion - Do What You L.O.V.E.
One of my personal favorites…and it’s so simple. Do what you absolutely love to do! If money, bills, and obligations were no issue, what would you do for free? Whatever that something is, it just might be God’s gift to you. Don’t bury it. Your gifts truly will make room for you. Consider your gifts and talents to be the tools of your purpose. Cultivate them and use them for good.
“In this life, there are just a few things that really matter a lot…and quite frankly, a lot that means nothing at all. Choose wisely.”
